What To Do When A Charger Quits Working

When you go to charge your computer, and it doesn't receive a charge there are a couple things you can check.

Charging cables usually have two plugs connected together and then one end goes into the computer and the other end goes into the wall. There is also a middle connection on some chargers on the square or rectangle piece. PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL THESE POINTS ARE TIGHTLY CONNECTED.

Another issue that comes into play is if your charger is plugged into a power strip make sure the POWER STRIP IS ON.

Sometimes unplugging the charger and plugging it into a new location fixes a charging issue.

Only use the charger given by IT! The Dell Latitude (Silver) laptop has a 65W charger and the Lenovo T16 Black Laptop uses a 100W Charger. USING A DIFFERENT WATTAGE CHARGER WILL NEGATIVLY EFFECT YOUR COMPUTERS BATTERY!

Some laptop models have various ports and sizes similar to the charging port. An example of this is the Dell Latitude (silver) Laptop has two USB-C ports on the left-hand side but only 1 of them is used for charging. MAKE SURE THE CHARGER IS PLUGGED INTO THE ONE WITH THE CHARGING ICON. Usually when plugged in correctly there will be a charging indicator light.

For the Lenovo Thinkpad T16 Laptop (Black) the Charging port is located in the far back.

If you have tried all the previous methods and still are not getting a charge, please try another charger (if there is one available). This will help narrow down if the problem is the charger itself or the computer having issues.

If you need a replacement charger you will need to put in a helpdesk ticket by emailing [email protected]

You will be required to tell us if there are any damages done to the charger recently that may have caused this issue.

All Equipment replacements will be sent to Joshua Kephart for review before a replacement will be provided.

Once the replacement has been approved and it is proven that the user isn't required to pay for damages, we can then send a charger to the site you request via inter office mail or schedule a time for someone to pick up the replacement or deliver it. If damages do need to be paid for, you will get an email including HR or Fiscal to assist with payment options.
